(10) Continuous Improvement
The LTD model is designed to change & evolve to reflect best practices & current research in the Canadian sport & physical activity system, fuelled by the Japanese concept of Kaizen, a business philosophy of continuous improvement.
Gender issues need to be considered at the beginning & throughout the development of policies, programs & investments, not as an afterthought. Targeted strategies to engage marginalized populations, including Aboriginal women & girls, visible minority & newcomer populations, women & girls with disabilities, & women & girls of all ages, social classes & sexual orientations are needed. Recruitment & retention strategies that value & maintain women’s involvement as leaders, in the boardroom or on the field, also need to be identified & implemented.
Generational change means that there is a need to regularly revisit beliefs about physical activity, sport, work, work load, expectations & standards.
