Research shows higher rates of specific musculoskeletal injuries & medical conditions in female athletes:

  • The major musculoskeletal sites affected in female athletes include injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), patellofemoral joint (PFJ) & shoulder. 
  • The major medical conditions observed in female athletes include disordered eating, menstrual cycle disruption & impaired bone mineral health.
